In this episode of the SaaS Revolution Show, our host Alex Theuma is joined by Øyvind Reed, CEO at Whereby, to shed some light on the hard things about building a SaaS company that nobody talks about.

This is not the first time we have struggled and I’ve had much closer near-death experiences than I am currently, right? So it sounds like a cliche but it isn’t always up into the right and it is a marathon and it’s hard gruelling work – and we should start normalising that because only then can we educate each other as founders. Only then can we really be helpful to each other. If we’re all just on Twitter and showing everyone how we’re crushing it and how cool we are and we’re building in public until things start going the wrong way – then we’re just buying into the hype and we’re not providing any real value.

Øyvind shares:

  • Whereby’s story and it’s key data points
  • Why they went from bootstrapped to venture backed
  • The importance of public transparency during the highs and lows
  • The value of taking a break
  • The best advice he’s ever received
  • The hardest part of the job
  • A sneak peek into his speaking topic at SaaStock 2022 (!)

and more!
