Today’s post features SaaS Founder and SaaStock Founder Member, Joran Hofman.

SaaStock Founder Member Spotlight: Joran Hofman

1. What’s your story?

Hi there, I’m Joran Hofman, Founder of Reditus – a powerful SaaS tool that helps other B2B SaaS companies to grow by harnessing the power of affiliate marketing.

Having personally experienced the frustration of dealing with inadequate tracking tools and scattered portals across over 80 SaaS tools as an affiliate marketer, I decided to create Reditus. This marketplace aims to centralise everything for affiliates, enabling them to be more engaged, while also providing an opportunity for SaaS companies to attract new affiliates beyond their existing network.

2. When did you begin building Reditus?

I started building Reditus alongside my full-time job at Leadfeeder. Since its inception in 2020, Reditus has grown from a one-man show to a team of five working completely remotely across Romania, the Netherlands, Malaysia, and Spain. First I hired a developer, who later became my co-founder, to speed things up another developer and when I sold the first clients myself I hired a Growth Hacker.

3. Why did you decide to join the SaaStock Founder Membership?

I joined the SaaStock Founder Membership because it’s hard to find people who can relate to the challenges of being a SaaS founder.

Even when you do, they often avoid talking about the difficulties. But with SFM, I’m able to connect with other founders who understand what I’m going through, and who can offer valuable advice to overcome these challenges.

One of the best things about SFM is that it provides a wealth of resources and knowledge through its big content schedule. This includes weekly events such as Mentor-led Workshops, SaaStock Founder Growth Member AMAs, Networking Sessions, Roundtables, and more. By attending these events, I gain fresh insights that help me stay on top of industry trends and best practices.

Overall, SFM helps me stay motivated and focused on building Reditus, even when things get tough. It’s a supportive community that encourages me to keep pushing forward and strive for success in my SaaS journey. It is a safe environment to share your challenges and problems.

4. As a SaaS founder, what’s the biggest challenge you are facing in your SaaS right now?

As a SaaS founder, my biggest challenge right now is not having enough time in the day! I find myself constantly juggling various tasks such as writing Help Center articles, providing support, planning technical development, managing sales and customer success, and handling marketing activities.

On top of that, we are implementing some major changes to our product, which requires a significant amount of my time and attention. This may affect the growth of our MRR in the short term, but we are confident that these changes will prepare us for long-term success.

At this point on our journey, we need to make tough decisions about where to invest our time and resources, and right now, we believe that prioritising product improvements and focusing on long-term growth channels is the key to unlocking our full potential.

5. How are you looking to overcome this challenge?

To overcome the challenge of limited time, I’m fully focused on addressing the major challenges; Growing our MRR, getting our product for growth & growing the number of affiliates.

As I focus on these core tasks I don’t have time for a lot of things I would like to do as well. Hence I started to delegate a lot of tasks to freelancers. For instance, our blog articles are written by a freelancer, the podcasts are being edited by another freelancer and my growth hacker is doing lots of great things on the marketing and acquisition side.

By outsourcing these tasks we are still doing lots of things on the ‘long term growth’ channels without it taking a lot of my time.

6. If you had a magic wand, what would you change about your SaaS to enable faster growth?

If I had a magic wand, I would integrate a payment system that would automate the entire process for SaaS companies, allowing for faster growth. Our current system is automated up to this point, and while this works for now, with increasing volume, we need to implement a fully automated payment system to accelerate growth for both our clients and us.

To give an idea, one of our clients generated in their 6 months around $20k of revenue (±4k MRR), this does consist of a lot of commission. Being able to automate this process will make sure they don’t have to worry about a lot of manual work when they grow their program.

7. What ‘one piece’ of information do you wish you were privy to before founding Reditus?

If only I had known before founding Reditus, I would have separated the front-end and back-end code from the very beginning. Currently, we are in the process of making this transition, which is taking longer due to the need for thorough testing before launch, especially since we have clients. This would have saved us a lot of time and effort if we had implemented this from the outset.

8. As an SFM Member, what are the key learnings you’ve gained so far to get you closer to $10MM ARR

There are no magic bullets and everyone is finding stuff out. You are not the only one having certain issues.

9. Have you attended any in-person SFM events yet? If so, what value did you find in them?

I had the opportunity to attend the SFM Annual Dinner in Dublin, and it was a truly valuable experience. I got to connect with like-minded people who are also SFM members in a casual and friendly environment. We shared our stories and experiences, and it was reassuring to find out that the challenges I’m facing as a SaaS founder are not unique.

I learned a lot from other members who are further along in their SaaS journey and was able to seek their advice on how to overcome similar challenges. Overall, the SFM events are an excellent opportunity to network, learn, and grow as a SaaS founder.

10. Finally, what do you aspire to become, personally or professionally, within the next 12 months?

My personal and professional aspirations within the next 12 months are closely tied to the growth and development of my company. My goal is to start the flywheel of our Product Led Growth motion, which will mean we need to attract bigger clients & more affiliates.

The goal would that any B2B SaaS company can set up an affiliate program and start generating (paid) referrals quickly. The more mature the company is the quicker this will happen of course (due to social proof, resources available, branding etc.).

On a personal level, I am excited to say that I launched my own podcast which is purely about B2B SaaS — trying to give something back to the community while growing my personal brand within the industry.
